The 2016 SBL champion Orange County Surf are ready to make it back-to-back in 2017.

The team is led by second year head coach Vinny Giovenelli , who has a host of returning players including: junior Alex Dimascio (Concordia University) and junior Luke Hussung (Orange Coast College) who made the SBL All-Star Game in 2016. Senior Bo Coolen (Ohio State) is back as well and should be a mainstay in the middle of the lineup.

A few D1 young arms will lead the staff this summer including Washington State  freshman Collin Quinn and  UC Irvine freshman Kaz Akamatsu. Other noteworthy newcomers are:  freshman infielders Zach Sehgal (Stanford) and Brendan Brooks (UC Irvine).

The Surf will test themselves early with key non-league games against the OC Riptide, Long Beach Legends, Academy Barons and So Cal Catch. Their first SBL league game will be a rematch of last season's championship against the Inland Valley Pirates on Thursday, June 8.
