The OC Surf have made it to the SBL Championship for the second consecutive season after winning both games they played in the double elimination tournament at Cal Poly Pomona this week.

The Ventura County Pirates make their first appearance in the  SBL Championship in their first season in the league.

These two teams have traded blows all season long, and in fact, split six games in the season series.

The OC Surf got a three-run homer in the ninth by Alex Dimascio to make it a 6-5 ballgame.

The Pirates showed resiliency on a Kobi Allen game-tying RBI to knot it up at 6-6 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.

The teams played a scoreless 10th and finished on July 11th in the 12th inning. The Surf scored twice in the 12th, but the Pirates fought until the bitter end with one in the frame before they ultimately fell by a final of 8-7.
