The So Cal Sparrows (1-1, 1-1) and Signal Hill Oilers (1-1, 1-1) opened their seasons with a league doubleheader Saturday at Northwood High School.

The Oilers won Game 1 8-5.

The Sparrows got a measure of revenge in Game 2 with a 9-8 win. Heading into the bottom of the 8th and trailing 8-2, the Sparrows were just six outs away from getting swept, but that's when the bats awakened.  So Cal plated six in the 8th to tie it up and walked off in the 9th.

Grant Lockwood (Cal Poly Pomona) went 3-for-3 with three runs scored for the Sparrows.

Chris Gann (Holy Names) blasted a solo home run and Noah Ford added two RBI for the Oilers.

Signal Hill is in action again Sunday when they host the Inland Valley Pirates.

So Cal travels to face the Ventura County Pirates on Sunday.
