VAN NUYS -- To say the Ventura County Pirates (3-0) have gotten out to a great start would be an understatement.

The red-and-black has enjoyed success in each of its first two seasons, winning a Division Title in 2017, while making it to the Sunset Championship League Series in 2017 and 2018.

They're hungry to build upon that momentum in 2019 and certainly are making their presence felt early in the season.

After opening up with a 14-5 win over the VC Bucs on Friday, they followed that up with a huge 16-2 victory over the defending champion OC Legends on Saturday.

Sunday was no different. The offense continued its torrid start en route to an 11-4 win over the So Cal Sparrows at LA Valley College.

After three games, the Pirates are outscoring opponents 41-11.

Trolle Brandt (College of the Canyons) belted two hits and knocked in three.

Keaton Glover (University of the Pacific) and Bradley Chesterson (Chaffey College) each added two RBI. Chesterson also scored three times.

Elijah Johnson (Southeastern Louisiana) starred for the Sparrows with three hits and one RBI.

Trevor Lukkes (Ohio) had two hits, one RBI and scored once. Grady Morgan (Chico State) knocked in one RBI and scored once.

Ventura County gets one day off before taking the field at home against the Signal Hill Oilers on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

So Cal travels to Biola University to face the Shepherds at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
