LA MIRADA -- In a battle of two first place teams, the Ventura County Pirates came away with a huge 7-5 win over the So Cal Shepherds at Biola University Monday afternoon.

Jason Ajamian (LA Valley College) blasted a home run. Hunter Konecny-Pena (University of the Pacific) added two RBI.

Deandrey Carter (LA Valley College) tossed five innings and only allowed one run.

Chad Ragland (Delta State) had two RBI for the Shepherds.

The Shepherds host the Signal Hill Oilers Tuesday. They are clinging to a one game lead in the South Division. The winner of each division will get a bye in the first round of the playoffs.

The Pirates host the So Cal Sparrows Tuesday. Ventura County leads the North by 1.5 games and takes a 0.5 game lead over the Shepherds for the #1 overall seed in the Sunset League Playoffs.
