Lopez Leads Legends Over Shepherds

ANAHEIM -- Nick Lopez (San Francisco State) drove in four on two hits to lead Long Beach Legends past SoCal Shepherds 15-6 on Saturday.  Lopez drove in runs on a walk in the second, a home run in the seventh, and a double in the ninth.

SoCal Shepherds scored four runs in the seventh inning, but Long Beach Legends still managed to pull out the victory.  Long Beach Legends got things moving to put up nine runs in the 2nd inning. 

Joseph Augustine (NYU) was credited with the victory for Long Beach Legends. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on zero hits and striking out two.  Matt Wilmot (Providence Christain), Matthew Wilson (Millikan U), and Connor Ladwig (Michigan) all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.

Jake Reed (U San Diego) started the game for Long Beach Legends. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out two.

Long Beach Legends hit two home runs on the day. Tristan Hanoian (Oregon) went yard in the eighth inning. Lopez had a homer in the seventh inning.

Long Beach Legends totaled 16 hits in the game.  Tyler Attal (Bates College), Ben Davidson (LA Harbor), Lopez, Hanoian, and Caleb Jung (Colby College) all managed multiple hits for Long Beach Legends. 

The LB Legends are back in action at 6:00 PM Sunday, July 12th, at Brookhurst in Anaheim.
