LOS ANGELES – After nearly two full years since their last out of 2019, the Ventura County Buccaneers were back on a baseball field. The East LA Dodgers came to Pote Field at Griffith Park for the designated non-league game, and the Bucs emerged victorious as on a passed ball with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Ventura's Brent Swearingen had just stepped into the batter's box when catcher Samuel Rodriquez couldn't secure a Jason Chapman pitch. Kenny Kim sprinted to the plate and narrowly beat Rodriguez's mitt, his slide home turning the dirt circle into a dust cloud.

The Bucs' bats came alive in the seventh, with Joseph Avrahamy doubling on a full count, and Chris Demgen driving him home with a triple on the very next at-bat. Demgen then scored on Andrew Cordero's sac fly to make it a 3-2 game and make up for some defensive errors earlier.  Mitch Kurtz also scored in the ninth to tie the game 3-3, getting hit by a pitch himself, strolling home by way of another hit batsman followed by two walks.

The Buccaneers are back in action on Sunday morning at 11, hosting the Chicago Cubs Scout Team in a doubleheader at Los Angeles Valley College.
