LOS ANGELES -- The Ventura County Buccaneers defeated the East Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 Friday night in a non-league matchup.

The Dodgers raced out to a 3-0 lead by the fifth inning, but the Buccaneers kept fighting.

Ventura County plated two in the seventh inning to make it a 3-2 ballgame. Chris Demgen was the centerpiece of the seventh, ripping an RBI triple and scoring on an Andrew Cordero sacrifice fly.

The score remained 3-2 until  the bottom of the ninth when the Buccaneers scored twice and won in walk-off fashion on a passed ball. Kenny Kim, who finished 1-for-3, scored the game-winning run.

The story of the game was great pitching performances from both teams. Dodger starter Dylan Schumacher (Rio Hondo) was electric, tossing five innings, and striking out nine, while only allowing two hits. Buccaneer closer Drew Atherton struck out the side in the ninth inning and earned the win.

Ventura County next plays in a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday. East Los Angeles takes the field again on Saturday when they host the So Cal Shepherds.
