WESTMINSTER -- The Long Beach Legends defeated the Orange County Legends 4-3 Friday afternoon at La Quinta High.
Long Beach (1-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Orange County (1-4) attempted to make a major comeback trailing 4-1 entering the ninth inning, but couldn't tie the game up, as Long Beach held on to win.
Long Beach was led by a trio of home run hitters. Pierson Loska (CSU Dominguez Hills), Kevin Donohue (Truman State) and Mark Stanford (CSU San Marcos) each blasted a home run.
Brett Awerkamp (UC Irvine) and Caden Aoki (Notre Dame) were electric on the mound. The two combined to pitch six innings, allowed no hits and struck out nine.
Orange County was led by Niko Diaz (CSU San Marcos) and Miles Jenkins (Golden West) who each had two hits.
Long Beach plays again on Saturday against the Ventura County Buccaneers.
Orange County's next matchup is against the OC Pirates on Saturday in a Sunset League game.
