LA HABRA -- The Ventura County Pirates (2-0, 2-3) swept a two-game series against the So Cal Shepherds (1-2, 2-6) on Monday at Whittier Christian.

The Pirates won 6-2.

Darren Taylor (Chaffey) blasted a home run and two RBI. Jacob Ortega (Allan Hancock) also had two RBI.

Trevor Garcia (Fresno State) tossed five solid innings, only allowing one run, while striking out seven.

The Pirates do battle again on Tuesday against the Inland Valley Pirates.

The Shepherds will face the Long Beach Legends on Wednesday.
