VAN NUYS -- The Inland Valley Pirates defeated the Ventura County Pirates 6-4 Tuesday at LA Valley College. Inland Valley trailed 3-2 entering the eighth inning, before scoring two runs to take the lead.

Deylin Pigford (CSU Fullerton) and Dalton Porter (Texas) each knocked in two RBI. Leadoff hitter Julian Alvarez (Riverside CC) scored three times. Diego Cruz (Citrus College) earned the win, tossing four innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out four.

For Ventura County, Brent Chavez (LA Pierce) had a solid outing. The second year Freshman tossed five innings, allowed one earned run on just two hits and struck out seven. Ventura County was led offensively by Darren Taylor (Chaffey) with two RBI.

Inland Valley's (1-1, 1-3) next game comes on Thursday against the Long Beach Legends.

Ventura County (2-1, 2-4) will face the Inland Valley Buccaneers on Thursday.
