LOS ANGELES -- The Ventura County Buccaneers defeated the Signal Hill Oilers 9-4 Thursday at Pote Field.

The Bucs trailed 4-1, but came back with eight unanswered runs to clinch the victory.

Shaun Montoya (UC Irvine) had a 4-for-5 day at the plate for the Bucs. Thomas Keller (LA Valley College) produced two RBI. JP Caire (Cal Lutheran) earned the win. He tossed four innings, only allowed one hit, no runs, and struck out three.

Noah Ford (Compton JC) went 2-for-2 with one RBI. Griffin Selby (Santa Ana College) also had two knocks and scored once.

Ventura County improves to 5-5 in the Sunset League. The Bucs get a short break before playing the South Bay Sliders on Monday.

The setback for Signal Hill drops them to 6-4-1. The Oilers will face the Sliders on Saturday.
