CERRITOS -- The OC Pirates defeated the South Bay Sliders 1-0 Thursday at Valley Christian.

The Pirates scored the lone run in the first inning off an RBI Jeffrey Ray Jr (Chico State).

Hector Garcia (Hope International) tossed two innings, struck out five and allowed no hits. Matthew Gonzales (Allan Hancock) hurled three innings and allowed just one hit. Raul Herrada (Hope International) went four innings of shutout baseball.

The Sliders pitching staff only allowed three his. Humberto Chiquito (CSU Dominguez Hills), Manny Hernandez (LA Harbor) and Ian Brady (West Liberty) all turned out outstanding performances.

The Pirates take on the California Cage Rats on Tuesday.

The Sliders face the East LA Dodgers on Sunday.
