You know it might be your day when the offense produces just four hits, strikes out 17 times and still manages a way to pick up the W.
But that's exactly what the Arroyo Seco Sentinels accomplished on Father's Day.
They handed the Inland Valley Pirates just their second league loss of 2022, securing a 4-2 victory at Brookside Park.
Arroyo Seco got two runs (one earned) on four hits off Chris Ceballos.
Ceballos went three innings, walked one and fanned five.
Jonathan Robinson didn't allow a hit or walk and struck out eight Sentinels' batters in three innings of work.
In all, the IVP pitching staff walked one and struck out 17.
Mikey Easter walked, had two of Arroyo Seco's four hits and scored two of their four runs.
Anthony Salcedo singled and had an RBI.
Matt Rice drew a pair of walks and scored once.
Jake Trabbie walked, singled, drove in a run and scored.
Bryce Cerminelli walked and had one RBI.
Caleb Reyes was credited with the win, allowing one run on four hits.
Reyes went four innings, didn't issue a walk and struck out six.
Aaron Petersen gave up a ninth-inning run, walking three, pegging a batter and striking out one.
Eddie Cheong and Joe Jimenez provided two scoreless innings for the Sentinels.
Isaiah Marquez doubled in a run for the Pirates.
Bret Bowers walked, singled and scored.
Jacob Badawi singled twice and drove in a run.
Jack Haggerty walked and singled, and Austin Haller walked and scored.
Arroyo Seco Sentinels coach, Nico Calderaro: "It was a good baseball game all around. It was a quiet offensive day for both teams. We were able to pitch, play defense and try to score one more run than them and had a couple really good at-bats from our guys. Eddie is working back from Tommy John surgery and I liked how he went right at guys and was working on trying to fill up the zone and get contact. He got into a little jam in his second inning of work, but picked up a strikeout to end the threat. Caleb has been our guy all summer and we knew what we were getting with him before we started. He's been dominant and gives us a chance to win every game he's pitching in. Joe came in and did a great job today as well, focused on using his defense and getting ahead. He deserved another inning but we have a ton of guys who need innings and it's early in the summer."
