The Orange County Surf (0-1) fell 6-2 to the Orange County Riptide Thursday afternoon at Concordia University in their season opener.

Connor Fidone finished 3-for-4. Matt Cassin was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Bo Coolen scored once. Chase Kerr belted one RBI.

The Riptide jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the second and tacked on one more in the third inning to make it 4-0.

In the sixth, the Riptide scored once more to extend the margin to 5-0.

The Surf scored their first two runs of the season in the top of the seventh to cut the deficit to 5-2. 

The Riptide answered with one insurance run in the bottom of the seventh.

The two teams meet again Friday afternoon at 4:35 p.m. at Concordia University.
