The Ventura County Pirates (7-0, 2-0) continue to put California on notice as they defeated the defending summer collegiate baseball National Champion Santa Barbara Foresters 7-1 in Santa Barbara Sunday afternoon.
Griffin Hagen (2-0) shutdown an outstanding opposition, tossing six innings and only allowing one run, while striking out three. Robert Stowell notched the three-inning save and struck out four.
Jake Selco led the way with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate and two RBI. Darren Kriz finished 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored.
The Pirates have a day off on Monday before hosting the Solana Beach Cardinals on Tuesday.
