Hoppie and Stowell Earn Honors

Robert Stowell (Cal State Los Angeles) has earned the SBL pitcher of the week honor. Stowell hurled 11 innings this past week for the Ventura County Pirates and only allowed two earned runs for a 1.27 ERA. Stowell was electric against the Solana Beach Cardinals tossing seven innings, while only allowing four hits in a 6-3 victory. He also pitched three shutout innings against the defending NBC World Series champion Santa Barbara Foresters en route to a 7-1 Pirate victory, while claiming four strikeout victims.

Wyatt Hoppie (Hawaii Pacific) earned the nod as the position player of the week. Hoppie finished the week 9-for-16 (.563 BA) for the OC Surf. Hoppie belted in five RBI and scored four times, while also bashing one home run this week. So far this season, Hoppie has been one of the most feared hitters with the most home runs (3) and RBI (10) in the SBL.
