Game suspended tied at 6-6 due to darkness

The Ventura County Pirates and OC Surf played a wild 10 inning game that was suspended due to darkness on Tuesday night at LA Valley College.

There were plenty plot twists and turns as game was tied at 6-6 when it was called.

The Pirates jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly by Darren Kriz in the bottom of the fourth.

The Surf immediately responded with two in the top of the fifth to grab a 2-1 lead.

The back-and-forth affair continued as the Pirates got a two-run homer by Myles Hager to regain the lead at 3-2.

The Surf tied it up at 3-3 on a Zachary Sanchez RBI single up the middle.

In the bottom of the eighth, Ventura County notched its second two-run honmer of the day when Jake Selco cleared the right field fence to make it a 5-3 ballgame.

The Surf fought back, in the top of the ninth inning, down to their final out, 2016 SBL all-star Alex Dimascio blasted a three-run homer to give the Surf a 6-5 lead.

However, the Pirates answered with one in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to extra innings on a Kobi Allen line drive base hit to left field. The game will be completed at a later date.

Ventura County's next SBL game is Friday at Gahr High School against the South Bay Sparrows. The game will be broadcast live on our air. Orange County's next SBL game is set for Friday night at Cal Poly Pomona when they face the Inland Valley Pirates.
