VC Pirates Clinch Playoff Spot

The Ventura County Pirates (13-5) clinched a playoff spot Tuesday night at LA Valley College with an 8-3 victory over the OC Surf (10-7).

The Surf took a 1-0 lead in the first, but the Pirates answered with two in the bottom of the frame to make it 2-1.

Ventura County tacked on six unanswered runs to extend the margin to 8-1 before the Surf finally stopped the bleeding with one run in the eighth and ninth innings.

Myles Hager cranked a home run and knocked in three RBI. Griffin Hagen added two RBI. Grant Mona scored twice.

Robert Stowell earned the win hurling five innings and striking out six, while only allowing one earned run.

For the Surf, Wyatt Hoppie belted a home run and two RBI.
