Ventura County Pirates vs Inland Valley Pirates (VC wins season series 3-2)

Game 1, June 25th

VC Pirates 11, IV Pirates 9

A seesaw battle with plenty of plot twists and turns broke out at Cal Poly Pomona as each crew tried to make the other walk the plank. Ventura County scored twice in the first and second inning to grab a 4-0 lead, but Inland Valley responded with two in the bottom of the second to make it a 4-2 ballgame. After Ventura plated one in the third, Inland Valley scored three times to tie it up at 5-5 at the end of 3. In the 4th, each team scored once making it a 6-6 game. Ventura County grabbed a 7-6 lead in the 5th and extended it to 8-6 in the 6th until Inland Valley answered with two to tie it again at 8-8.  Ventura County scored three times in the 7th, which would ultimately be enough to hold on to victory.

Ventura County was led by Darren Kriz, who finished 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Kobi Allen and Lucas Thrun each had three base hits.

Inland Valley was led by an Alberto Vargas home run. Justin Katz finished 2-for-2 with three RBI.

 Game 2, June 25th

VC Pirates 3, IV Pirates 2

The second game of the twin billing was just as tight as the first, but this time it was a pitcher's duel as opposed to a slugfest. Ventura County swept the doubleheader. No one scored until the 7th inning.

Ventura County's Robert Stowell tossed eight innings and earned the win. He only allowed two hits on the day, struckout five and allowed one earned run. 

Inland Valley's Michael Gomez hurled six innings and got the tough no decision. He scattered three hits, struckout five and allowed no runs.

In the 7th, Ventura County took a 1-0 lead, but Inland Valley immediately came back with two in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 lead.

Ventura County plundered the victory with two runs in the 9th.

Darren Kriz and Kyle Lathrop each contributed two hits.

Game 3, July 12th

IV Pirates 7, VC Pirates 3

Inland Valley got a measure of revenge by defeating Ventura County at LA Valley College.

Cade Kirkemo earned the win, pitching seven innings for Inland Valley, striking out four and allowing three runs.

Jacob Taylor of Inland Valley was the standout performer cranking a home run en route to a three RBI and three runs scored day. Ryan Whithorn added two RBI.

Game 4, July 15th

VC Pirates 7, IV Pirates 3

Ventura County turned the table, winning by the same score they lost by in the previous encounter. They put the game away early taking a 5-0 lead by the end of the 3rd. 

Darren Kriz knocked in two RBI. Jake Selco and Kobi Allen each scored twice.

Dylan Ross was electric in five innings earning the win and only allowing two hits and no runs.

Game 5, July 15th

IV Pirates 9, VC Pirates 8

The final game of the season series played out similar to the first as both offenses clicked on all cylinders. 

Jacob Taylor and Ricardo Salinas both had two RBI. Jahshua Jones and Brendan Campbell scored twice.

Darren Kriz ripped four RBI. Kyle Lathrop, Kyle Soberano and D'Andre Sanchez all scored twice.
