Solana Beach Cardinals vs OC Surf (SB wins season series 4-1)

Game 1, June 17th

Cardinals 6, Surf 5

The first matchup was a fun back-and-forth encounter that saw the two heavyweights in the South trade blows. 

The Surf took an early 1-0 lead in the 1st. The Cardinals answered with two in the 4th to take a 2-1 lead. OC responded with two of their own in the 5th grabbing a 3-2 lead. That didn't last long because the Cardinals scored twice in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead at 4-3. In the 6th, once again the Surf tied it, but the Cardinals scored to go back ahead by one at 5-4. Each team scored once again in the 7th, so there were eight lead changes in this game altogether.

Jake Singer (Cardinals) and Wyatt Hoppie (Surf) each belted a home run. Alex Rejto added two RBI.

Game 2, June 17th

Surf 11, Cardinals 6

Connor Fidone knocked in two RBI for the Surf.

Clay Zollman had two RBI for the Cardinals.

Game 3, June 24th

Cardinals 11, Surf 10

Cole Heavilin and Ari Gerber led the way offensively with two RBI apiece for the Cardinals. Mike Benson scored three times.

Phil Steering knocked in two RBI. Austin Sojka scored twice.

Game 4, July 8th

Cardinals 4, Surf 1

The first time the two teams played more of a pitcher's duel was July 8th. 

The Surf scored their only run in the top of the 1st on a Cooper Moore RBI.

The Cardinals scored all four of their runs in the 6th on one swing of the bat by Jake Singer, who cranked a grand slam.

Ryan Semon had an outstanding outing, tossing five innings and striking out six, while only allowing one run.

Game 5, July 16th

Cardinals 9, Surf 6

Charles Grant-Debose knocked in three RBI to pave the way for the Cardinals. James Rutledge tacked on two RBI.

The Surf were led by Phil Steering's 4-for-4 day and three RBI.
