The OC Surf may have been the 4th seed, but it didn't look like it Wednesday night at Cal Poly Pomona as they defeated the #1 Solana Beach Cardinals 8-2.

The Surf took a 1-0 lead on a Luke Hussung lead-off home run in the top of the first, but the Cardinals immediately responded with one in the bottom of the inning to tie it up at 1-1.

OC added one run in the second, third and fourth innings to make it 4-1. They scored twice more in the fifth to extend the margin to 6-1.

Solana Beach scored once in the seventh, but it was too little, too late as the Surf tacked on two more in the ninth.

The Surf will play the Ventura County Pirates at 3 p.m. as the  winner moves on to the SBL Championship Game. Meanwhile, the Cardinals will face the Inland Valley Pirates at 11 a.m.
