COSTA MESA -- The Ventura County Pirates defeated the Socal Sparrows 9-0 in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Vanguard University.

Ellis Stevens (Chaffey) was everything for the Pirates blasting a grand slam in the 8th inning and finishing 4-4 with seven RBI for the game.

Ventura County broke a scoreless tie in the 4th with a four-spot before adding five more runs in the 8th.

Josh Arkin (College of the Canyons) belted in two RBI and scored twice. Hunter Konecny-Pena scored twice.
