COSTA MESA -- The Socal Sparrows earned an impressive 8-7 comeback victory against the Ventura County Pirates in Game 2 of a doubleheader at Vanguard University.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the 1st, the Pirates answered scoring six runs by the 4th inning to make it a 6-1 game.

Socal responded with three in the 6th to cut the deficit to 6-4, but Ventura County tacked on one in the 7th.

Down three, in the bottom of the 8th, the Sparrows scored four runs to take an 8-7 lead and held on for the victory.

Mark Strebin (McPherson) was the star for the Sparrows ripping in two RBI and also scoring twice.

Kyle Bowser (Slippery Rock) belted in two RBI.

Nathan Church (UC Irvine) scored three times.

Bryant Durflinger (Hope International) came up huge in relief securing the win, while tossing three innings of shutout baseball.

The Sparrows play the Grizzlies next in a non-league contest on Tuesday.

Ventura County's next game will be against the Inland Valley Pirates on Tuesday night.
