FULLERTON -- The Socal Sparrows (5-2-1, 4-0) defeated the Inland Valley Pirates (2-4, 2-2) 4-0 Friday at Amerige Park.

The Sparrows got out to an early 7-2 lead, but by the 6th inning, a four-run inning for Inland Valley gave the pirates a 9-7 lead.

While overcoming something like that might be difficult for most teams, Socal showed heart and answered with a five-run 7th that put the game away.

Brennen Carr (Redlands) and Tyler Murray (Hawaii) led the Sparrows. Each blasted a home run and ripped in four RBI.

Jose Aguilera (Mississippi Valley State) had a big day with three base hits, three runs scored and even picked up the pitching win as well, striking out the only batter he faced in the 6th inning.

The two teams will face each other again on Saturday at Amerige Park at 3:30 p.m.
