LOS ANGELES -- The Ventura County Pirates (6-4, 2-3) and the Solana Beach Redbirds (3-7, 1-6) split a doubleheader Saturday at LA Valley College.

The Redbirds got their first SBL victory of the season in Game 1 to the tune of 4-1.

The Pirates won the second game 11-5.

Solana Beach hosts the Signal Hill Oilers next on Tuesday.

Ventura County will head south to Costa Mesa to do battle with the Socal Sparrows.
