The Sunset Baseball League is proud to announce its players of the week selections. As league play got underway, the competition has been top notch, but two players stood out above the rest to earn the first player of the week honors in 2018.

The hitter of the week is Ellis Stevens of the Ventura County Pirates. Stevens tore it up over the first week of the season finishing 7-for-18 with three home runs, including one grand slam, 11 RBI and five runs scored. The Chaffey College product has been an unstoppable force in Pirates' lineup.

Bryant Durflinger of the Socal Sparrows earned pitcher of the week honors. Durflinger was a huge factor in three league wins for the Sparrows, earning the win in two of them and the three-inning save in the other. Altogether, he tossed nine innings and struckout nine, while only allowing five hits and no earned runs. The Hope International freshman will be a force to be reckoned with all summer long.
