LONG BEACH -- The Long Beach Legends (11-5, 8-0) topped the Socal Sparrows (6-4-1, 4-3) Thursday afternoon at Long Beach City College in a battle of first place SBL teams.

It was a back and forth affair as the Sparrows jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first.

Long Beach answered with one in the 3rd to knot it up at 1-1.

Socal responded in the top of the 4th to grab a 2-1 advantage, but the Legends came right back with three in the bottom of the frame making it a 4-2 ballgame.

The Sparrows took a 5-4 lead with three runs in the 7th, but once again, the Legends came back with three of their own in the 8th to take a 7-5 victory.

Rylie Dent (Valparaiso) and Tyler Wilber (Long Beach City) were the offensive keys to the game for Long Beach. Each finished with two hits and one RBI. Wilber scored twice, while Dent scored once.

Chase Ambrose (Georgetown College) earned the win, tossing two innings of no-hit baseball.

Grant Askins (Loyola Marymount) and EJ Andrews (Fresno State) starred for the Sparrows. Askins ripped three hits and two RBI. Andrews cranked a two-run double.
