The Sunset Baseball League is proud to announce its players of the week selections. In the second week of play the Long Beach Legends have separated from the pack in the North, while the South is a three-way battle with the three teams being separated by just two games. This week, the two players who stood out above the rest represent the Legends and Inland Valley Pirates.

The hitter of the week is Tyler Wilber (Long Beach City College). The redshirt sophomore for the Legends finished 9-for-14 with seven runs scored and six RBI in three league games. He added another 2-for-4 performance with one RBI and scored once in a non-league game just for good measure. Wilber has been one of the offensive catalysts for an 11-0 Long Beach squad.

The pitcher of the week is Jake Gomez (Mt. Sac). The freshman for the Inland Valley Pirates made two appearances this week. He tossed five shutout innings and earned the win against the Solana Beach Redbirds on Sunday and added two more scoreless innings against the Signal Hill Oilers on Saturday. In those seven innings, he only allowed three hits and struck out six.
