LOS ANGELES -- The Ventura County Pirates (7-8, 3-7) defeated the Signal Hill Oilers (8-7, 5-6) 8-3 Tuesday afternoon at LA Valley College.

The Pirates used a six-run seventh inning to lead them to victory.

Gabriel Gonzalez and Josh Arkin (College of Canyons) each blasted a home run. Ben Grunberg (Loyola Marymount) added two RBI and scored once.

Jerald Murray (LA Mission College) was lights out on the mound tossing seven innings and allowing just five hits, one unearned run and struck out three.

Aaron Fawcett led the way for Signal Hill with two hits, one RBI and one run scored.

The two teams do battle again on Thursday at Long Beach City College.
