Long Beach Legends vs Signal Hill Oilers (LB wins season series 5-0)

Game 1, June 9th

Legends 7, Oilers 5

This battle went back and forth and a couple of plot twists and turns broke out at Long Beach City College as each team vied for their first Sunset League win of the season. Long Beach scored once in the third to grab a 1-0 lead, but Signal Hill responded with one in the bottom of the third to tie it up. After the Legends plated one in the fourth, the Oilers answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 5-2 lead. Long Beach responded immediately making it a 5-5 game in the fifth. It remained scoreless from that point until the top of the ninth when the Legends scored twice.

The Legends were led by Rylie Dent, who finished 2-for-3 with two RBI. Rafeeq Rahim ripped three knocks and belted two RBI. Jeremiah Johnson added two hits, one RBI and scored once.

Signal Hill was led by Sergio Osorio, who finished with three RBI and scored once.

 Game 2, June 16th

Legends 6, Oilers 3

The first game of the twin billing featured six runs scored in the first two innings. The Legends led 4-2 after two and tacked on another run in the fourth and sixth innings.

Long Beach's JT Navarro was the star with a 3-for-3 day at the plate, two RBI and one run scored. Ben Barth added two hits and scored twice.

The Oilers were led by David Rivera's three base hits, two runs and one RBI. Christopher Gann and Robert Funk each contributed two hits.

Will Anderson and Chase Ambrose each tossed three innings of shutout ball.

Game 3, June 16th

Legends 4, Oilers 1

Long Beach completed the doubleheader sweep by jumping out to an early lead and keeping Signal Hill in check with stellar pitching.

Rylie Dent and Mark Stanford each belted two hits and Tyler Wilber added an RBI and a run scored.

Collin Perez knocked in the only run for the Oilers.

Game 4, June 30th

Legends 4, Oilers 3

The Legends pulled some magic out of their hat with a three-run ninth inning en route to the 4-3 victory over the Oilers.

Mark Stanford ripped two RBI. Aaron Takacs and Tyler Wilber also had one RBI apiece.

Garrett Rennie threw five shutout innings.

Aaron Fawcett was the key player for the Oilers with two RBI.

Game 5, June 30th

Legends 4, Oilers 0

The Legends shutout the Oilers in the final game of the season series. 

Timmy Shiba tossed five innings of no-hit baseball.

Tyler Wilber notched two hits. Nolan Jekich had one RBI and scored once.
