SoCal Sparrows vs VC Pirates (SS wins season series 4-1)

Game 1, June 10th

Pirates 9, Sparrows 0

This game was not a harbinger of things to come between the two teams as it was Ventura County's lone win in the series. However, the Pirates certainly made the Sparrows walk the plank with this effort. The Pirates used to big innings (a four-run 4th and five-run 8th) to cruise to their first Sunset League win.

Ellis Stevens was a monster, belting two home runs and seven RBI, while finishing 4-4 at the plate just for good measure!

Josh Arkin added an RBI.

Jesse Galindo earned the win, tossing four innings of one hit ball.

 Game 2, June 10th

Sparrows 8, Pirates 7

While the Sparrows scored first in the second game of the twin billing, they quickly found themselves behind big again 6-1 by the 4th inning. This time, SoCal showed what they were made of as they used a four-run 8th inning en route to victory.

Nathan Church was the offensive catalyst for the Sparrows notching two hits and three runs. Kyle Bowser came through with two RBI.

Anthony Nervoso ripped in two RBI and scored once for Ventura County.

Jeffrey Hill had the tough luck no decision. The Pirate only allowed one hit in five innings with six strikeouts.

Sparrows 6, Pirates 4

The four-run fifth inning was the key to this contest for the Sparrows.

Sam Ireland led the way with three RBI for the Sparrows.

Connor Rodriguez finished 3-3 with an RBI for the Pirates. Hunter Konecny-Pena and Gabriel Gonzalez each blasted home runs.

Game 4, July 12th

Sparrows 7, Pirates 5

This was the most intense game of the series. The Pirates once again jumped out to a big lead early. This time, Ventura County led 5-0 by the end of the 4th, but the Sparrows battled back to tie it up 5-5 in the 8th. The game went to extra innings. SoCal won it with two in the 10th.

Shoma Yoshida was huge with three RBI and two runs scored. Jerry Zurita added two RBI.

Jason Ajamian had two RBI for the Pirates.

Jeffrey Hill had his second stellar no decision in this series tossing five innings of shutout baseball.

This one was more of a straight forward game for the Sparrows, who took a 5-0 lead by the end of 3.

Kyle Bowser had two knocks and two RBI. Payton Walsh also had two hits.

Jason Ajamian crushed a home run.

Jack Fox was exceptional hurling seven innings and striking out six, while only allowing one run.
