LONG BEACH -- The Long Beach Legends defeated the Ventura County Pirates 11-4 to advance to the SBL Championship Series Wednesday at Long Beach City College.

The Legends jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning and didn't look back.

Austin Spinney earned the win, tossing five innings, striking out five and not allowing an earned run.

Mark Stanford had two hits, three RBI and scored once. Connor Montgomery and Nolan Jekich each belted two RBI. Aaron Takacs notched three hits and scored three times.

The Legends will head to the SBL Championship Series starting Saturday at 7 p.m. at Cal State Fullerton.

Meanwhile, the Ventura County Pirates have a date tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. with the winner of the elimination game at 1 p.m. between the SoCal Sparrows and Signal Hill Oilers. The winner of the 4:30 game will advance to the Championship Series.
