LA MIRADA -- A long day of playoff action is in the books. It started at 9:30 a.m. at Biola University when the #6 Inland Valley Pirates faced the #3 South Bay Sliders.

South Bay fell behind 2-0 early, but immediately answered with nine consecutive runs. The Sliders won by a final of 10-3.

Grady Morgan and Eddie Zavala (Chico State) each blasted a home run and combined for seven RBI. Jack Collette (San Jose State) had three hits, a run scored and an RBI.

Hayden Schott (Cypress College) had two RBI.

The loss meant the Inland Valley Pirates would have to play later in the day in an elimination game, while the Sliders will play the Solana Beach Redbirds at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

In Game 2, the Orange County Legends defeated the So Cal Shepherds 14-4.

Orange County jumped all over So Cal early scoring seven runs in the first three innings.

Nick Lopez (Saddleback College), Carey Arbolida and Aharon Modlin (Pepperdine) each cranked a home run. Lopez finished with four RBI.

RJ Lan homered for the Shepherds.

The loss means the Shepherds would have to play the Inland Valley Pirates in an elimination game. Orange County advances to a meeting with the Ventura County Pirates at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

The final game of the day was an elimination game pitting the Inland Valley Pirates and So Cal Shepherds.

Inland Valley won a nail-biter 6-5 and eliminated the Shepherds from the playoffs.
