The Owner and Founder of "THE RAT PATROL" !

The California Cage Rats were founded in 2015 by collegiate baseball coach and former Associate Head Coach of Westcliff UNIVERSITY baseball program. 

Magno holds two masters degrees: One in Athletic Administration and one in Exercise Science. 


Coach Magno has over three decades of baseball experience. 

Magno has coached at :

  • The Jim Rice Professional Baseball School as its Director of Daily instruction. 
  • Eckerd College in Florida for four years. 
  • All-American Baseball Academy which set up operation in Florida and Long Beach, Which helped develop MLB players like Justin Turner, Travis and Chase d'Arnaud, Nick Pratto, Mark Wagner, Jonathan Singleton, Bobby Wilson, Ryan Dent, Anthony Gose, Ryan Hansen, Zach Wilson, Jon Skorupski, John Riggleman, Rick Nolan, Alex Newman and hundreds more. 
  • Long Beach Beach States Showcase and Scout Camps from 1996-98.
  • Woman’s Professional Baseball League (WBL) and became the bench coach for the Long Beach Lady Aces in 1997. 
  • 1997-99, Magno served as an associate scout for the Cincinnati Reds.  
  • 1999, Magno was invited to assist the Long Beach Breakers of the Western, becoming the bench and hitting coach for the Western League Championship club in 2001 and served under Steve Yeager..  
  • 2001, he began Family Sports Camps (Mister Baseball Enterprises), where he and his staff ran baseball and softball camps, coaching clinics, and group and private baseball lessons and training. 
  • Magno has earned two U.S. patents for inventing baseball training tools and products – The Lighting Stick and Deflector Glove.  
  • At Cal State Dominguez Hills Baseball he was the hitting coach, strength and speed coach, and catching coach and helped the team finish second in the prestigious CCAA baseball conference state championships.
  • Coach Magno worked alongside Shigetoshi "Shiggy" Hasegawa (former Seattle Mariners and Anaheim Angels pitcher) in running the Minnesota Twins scout program (Major League Baseball Academy).
  • He also helped Shiggy run the elite orange county Mazda PTC Elite Scout Team. 
  • He was the head coach at Mayfair High School, where he lead the Monsoons to three Suburban League Championships in four seasons and was awarded the Albert Pujols Coaching Award.
  • Coach Magno is The Southern California Director of The International Sports Association.

The California Cage Rats Staff includes former MLB player Associate Head Coach Dante Powell, Former MLB Pitcher Greg Mathews pitching advisor.

Baseball:

Trailing by three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Arroyo Seco Royals would rally for an 8-7, Sunset League victory.

The Royals got four unearned runs off Hunter Bond, two (one earned) against Jason Chapman, and one each from Elias Pacheco and Michael Rebelaro.

The CCR pitching staff combined to walk 10 and struck out five ASR batters.

Jordan Zuniga singled twice, hit a three-run HR, scored twice and finished with three RBIs.

Will Medina had three singles, scored and drove in one run.

Nick Cook walked twice, scored and had an RBI, while Josh Hernandez walked four times and scored once.

Diego Frey walked and scored, and Jackson Slipock scored and had an RBI.

Agustin Gutierrez walked and scored in Friday's comeback win.

The Cage Rats touched up Josh Verkuilen for five runs on eight hits in his six innings of work.

He walked three and fanned five Royals' batters.

Landon Trosclair walked and hit a pair of solo home runs.

Hasan Standifer singled, tripled and scored two runs.

Jared Pugrad singled, scored and drove in a pair of runs.

Jordan Stucki singled twice, scored and had one RBI.

Michael Rebelaro walked twice and doubled, and Jordan Salgado walked and scored.

Elias Pacheco walked and singled.

Baseball:

It's not often that a team out-hits an opponent by 10 and loses.

But that was the case for the National League in Wednesday's Sunset League All-Star game at Cypress College.

In spite of a 17-7 disparity in base hits, including an 8-2 disadvantage in extra-base hits, the American team claimed a 9-5 victory.

Aside from the only stat that matters (the final score), the A.L. did draw 10 walks to just two for the N.L.

Shane Stafford walked, singled, scored and had an RBI.

Stafford was named the game's MVP.

Kyle Douphner doubled, scored and drove in one run.

Trevor Lukkes walked, doubled and scored.

Benny Vogel singled, scored and had one RBI.

 

AJ Santamaria walked twice and scored, while Chris Butterfield and Jared Benash walked once and scored one run each.

Agustine Gutierrez had an RBI single, and David Baruch and DJ Graham walked and scored one run apiece.

For the National squad, Edward Morales had a huge game, going 4-for-5, with two doubles and scored one run.

Mason Daniels singled, doubled twice, scored, stole two bases and had an RBI.

Seth Nelson walked, singled twice and drove in a run.

Gregg Pavon doubled and scored, and Landon Trosclair walked, doubled and scored.

Rowan Teran doubled, scored and had an RBI.

Wyatt Thames had an RBI double.

Kai Moran went 2-for-4.

In the pregame home-run derby, Seth Nelson won with six HR's.

Baseball:

Jake Barbata went six scoreless innings to lead the California Cage Rats to a 4-2 victory over the Ventura County Bucs.

Barbata allowed four hits, didn't issue a walk and struck out six in Tuesday's Sunset League contest.

Gabe Vigil provided three innings of relief, allowing two runs on two hits.

Vigil walked two, fanned a pair and surrendered one home run.

Trent Turquand doubled, homered and drove in both runs.

Jack Bickerton walked and scored, while Tommy Italia walked and singled.

Domenik Cervantes doubled, and both Luke Crawshaw and Rowan Teran singled for the Bucs.

Thomas Keller went four innings for the VCB, allowing three runs on four hits.

Keller walked two and struck out six CCR batters.

Mason Kim surrendered an unearned run on two hits.

Kim went two innings, didn't issue a walk and struck out three.

Anthony Chavez provided two scoreless and hitless innings, walking one and fanning a pair of Cage Rats.

Landon Trosclair homered, scored twice and had two RBIs for CCR.

Logan Brett singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs.

Jared Pugrad walked, singled and scored.

Jesse Lopez walked twice and singled.

Matt DenHartog scored, and Elias Pacheco singled in Tuesday's win.
