The Ventura County Pirates Baseball Club is a high caliber and high quality organization in the Southern California region.

Our program is coached by skilled and knowledgeable former collegiate and current MLB Scouts, dedicated to developing our players into high caliber collegiate athletes. We specialize in developmental baseball instruction for athletes wishing to compete at a higher level. We strive to help our athletes reach their personal and athletic goals and to prepare them to compete at Collegiate levels.

Our goal is simple: to develop student athletes of success and integrity. We strive to help our players serve as positive members of their team. We strive to instill a positive attitude in our athletes so they are willing to recognize the importance of mental and physical growth in the development of their baseball skills. We try to help our athletes reach their full baseball potential and meet their own personal goals.

The Ventura County Pirates earned the Best of the West League championship on Friday night at Cal Poly Pomona.

VCP defeated the Inland Valley Pirates, 6-4, in the first game of a best-of-three series.

After the final out in the top of the ninth inning, IVP manager Charlie Reynoso alerted VCP skipper, George Vranau, that Inland Valley would not have enough pitching to continue the series.

The announcement set off a celebration amongst the VCP players and their fans.

It was their second championship in five years.

In 2022, VCP won five of their six games against the IVP.

Alex Abbott went four innings and allowed one run on five hits.

He walked one and struck out four IVP batters.

Kellan Montgomery provided two scoreless and hitless innings, walking three and striking out one.

Dylan Goodrich got the save, going two innings and allowing one run on one hit.

Goodrich walked two and fanned a pair of Inland Valley batters.

Anthony Gibbons walked, tripled and scored.

Conner McKinney singled, doubled, scored and had an RBI.

Gabriel Rico singled, scored and drove in a run.

Anthony McFarland had an RBI single.

Nathaniel Garcia went 2-for-4 for the IVP, and Bret Bowers walked four times and scored once.

Wyatt Johnson got the loss, allowing four runs on six hits over his five innings on Friday.

Johnson walked five and struck out five VCP batters.

Darren Taylor singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs.

Daniel Laughery walked, singled twice, scored two runs and had one RBI.

Nolan Lingley had a big night, going 2-for-4, with a double and a game-high three RBIs.

Andrew Tovar doubled and scored.

Andrew Buglino was solid throughout the 2022 season behind the plate, and batted just under the .300 mark, with 25 hits, 14 runs and 13 RBIs.

On Friday, the VCP catcher walked and singled.

Angelo Aleman went 2-for-4 and Quintt Landis walked three times and scored once.

Eli Paton singled and scored for VCP.

Jovan Camacho walked and scored.

Baseball:

The So Cal Shepherds held the top-seeded Ventura County Pirates scoreless as the game headed to the bottom of the fifth inning in Wednesday’s Best of the West League first-round playoff game.

The Pirates, however, got one in the fifth and three more in the sixth to defeat the Shepherds, 4-1, at Cal Poly Pomona.

Dylan Goodrich got the win, going two scoreless innings, and allowing just one hit.

Goodrich didn’t issue a walk and fanned three SCS batters.

Alex Laureano walked, singled twice and scored.

Rhett Stein walked and had an RBI.

Brandon Adams walked and collected a pair of singles.

Drew Salyers walked and singled.

Brenden Coffindaffer doubled and Shane Poe singled in Wednesday’s loss.

Andrew White got the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits.

White went 6 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out four VCB batters.

Quintt Landis went 2-for-4 and scored.

Daniel Laughery singled twice and had a game-high three RBIs.

Andrew Buglino had an RBI single and scored.

Ryan Camacho walked and doubled and Jovan Camacho doubled in the win.

Andrew Tovar singled twice and scored.

Angelo Aleman walked twice, and Eli Paton was hit-by-pitch and scored the Pirates first run.

Up next: The VC Pirates meet up today (Thursday) with the Inland Valley Pirates at 1.

The winner automatically advances to the championship, best-of-three game series that starts on Friday.

The loser of the VCP-IVP game will face the winner of the Thursday’s first game between the Arroyo Seco Sentinels and the So Cal Shepherds.

BOTW League Pitchers of the Week:

Isaiah Vazquez, Long Beach Legends:

Vazquez went five innings and allowed just an unearned run on one hit.

He issued three walks and struck out four.

For the season, Vazquez is 0-1, with a 3.12 ERA.

He struck out 24 batters in 26 innings.

LBL did not make the playoffs and finished one-game ahead of the last-place IV Bucs.

Jake Moore, Arroyo Seco Sentinels:

Moore tossed seven scoreless innings and allowed seven hits.

He walked two and struck out six.

For the season, Moore is 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA.

Moore has struck out 10 batters in 14 innings.

The Sentinels finished third and face the second-place IV Pirates on Wednesday in a first-round playoff game.

Xavier Stoker, Ventura County Pirates:

Stoker went six scoreless innings and picked up a win and a save.

He surrendered three hits, walked four and fanned four opposing batters.

For the season, Stoker is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA.

He’s struck out eight batters in 14 innings pitched.

The first-place Pirates open the playoffs on Wednesday.

VCP will face the winner of Tuesday’s wild card game between the East LA Dodgers and the So Cal Shepherds.
