The Long Beach Legends return to the Sunset Baseball League for the 2020 season, it will be the LB Legends eighth season as a collegiate summer baseball team.
In eight years the LB Legends have earned the reputation as one of the best collegiate summer baseball teams on the west coast.
The 2018 Long Beach Legends had a historic year winning the Sunset Baseball League championship with an overall record of 42-12.
As part of Legends Baseball Club, the Long Beach Legends aim to serve college baseball players of the community with a top tier experience.
The Long Beach Legends are done for the 2020 season, but will return in 2021. After the California governor issued more restrictions due to Covid in Anaheim, Brookhurst Park was closed, which forced Signal Hill to end their season.
Some of the key players from this season were Kenji Pallares (UCLA), Gabriel Arellano (Chico State) and Richard Melgoza Jr. (LA Harbor).
Melgoza Jr. recorded a stellar 2.00 ERA for the summer season.
Arellano hit .400. Pallares hit .455.
The Legends will be back in 2021, and look forward to challenging for a Sunset League title.
We are sorry to announce Brookhurst Park has been closed indefinitely as a governor's mandate. We would like to thank the city of Anaheim for allowing the Sunset League to play there for a week.
ANAHEIM -- The Orange County Legends defeated the Long Beach Legends 10-3 on Sunday.
Orange County opened up scoring in the first inning. Brett McCauley (Oregon) doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Tommy Temple (Whittier) allowed no runs and no hits over two innings, striking out four.
Long Beach is back in action on Monday against the Inland Valley Pirates.
Orange County's next game is a Tuesday rematch against Long Beach.
Anthony McFarland (UC Riverside) and McCauley each racked up two hits to lead Orange County.
Wyatt Nelson (New Orleans) went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Long Beach.
