The Ventura County Pirates Baseball Club is a high caliber and high quality organization in the Southern California region.

Our program is coached by skilled and knowledgeable former collegiate and current MLB Scouts, dedicated to developing our players into high caliber collegiate athletes. We specialize in developmental baseball instruction for athletes wishing to compete at a higher level. We strive to help our athletes reach their personal and athletic goals and to prepare them to compete at Collegiate levels.

Our goal is simple: to develop student athletes of success and integrity. We strive to help our players serve as positive members of their team. We strive to instill a positive attitude in our athletes so they are willing to recognize the importance of mental and physical growth in the development of their baseball skills. We try to help our athletes reach their full baseball potential and meet their own personal goals.

Sentinels Stay Alive

CYPRESS -- The #4 Arroyo Seco Sentinels eliminated the #2 Ventura County Buccaneers 16-1 Wednesday in the Sunset League Playoffs at Cypress College.

Richard Castro (Cerritos College) blasted a home run. Raider Tello (Pasadena City) ripped four RBI. Jakob Guardado (Pasadena City) tallied three RBI. Jeffrey Castillo (Azusa Pacific) and Jacob Klinovsky (CSU East Bay) each knocked in two RBI.

The Sentinels advance to Game 7 later today against the loser of the OC Pirates against the East LA Dodgers.


Dodgers Stifle Bucs

CERRITOS -- The East LA Dodgers defeated the Ventura County Buccaneers 9-0 in the second round of the Sunset League Playoffs Tuesday at Cerritos College.

Dylan Schumacher (Rio Hondo) belted two RBI and scored once. Hans Seo (Pomona College) also knocked in two RBI and scored once.

David Wolfe Jr (Mt. SAC) was lights out on the mound. The Dodger pitcher tossed seven innings of shutout baseball, while only allowing three hits. Rigo Gutierez (California Miramar) and Joseph Estrada each followed with one no-hit shutout inning.

The Buccaneers will play an elimination game at 10 a.m. Wednesday (Game 5). If they win that game, they will have one more game (Game 7) at 4 p.m. where the winner advances to the Sunset League Championship Series.

The Dodgers advance to the winners bracket final (Game 6) at 1 p.m. tomorrow. If they win that game, they will clinch a spot in the Sunset League Championship Series. If they lose, they will have one more chance to clinch a spot in Game 7 at 4 p.m. against the Game 5 winner.

Sunset Players of the Week

Last week of the regular season means one thing, one last player of the week award winners to honor.

This week, the pitcher of the week is Josh Kim (LA Valley College). The Ventura County Buccaneer ace tossed five innings, allowed no runs and struck out 12.

The hitter of the week is DJ Massey of the East Los Angeles Dodgers. Massey finished the week 7-for-9 with five RBI and one run scored.
